This program emphasizes the fundamental knowledge and policy development skills neecessary for an administrator. In addition, it also enhances pedagogical knowledge and leadership, expands the understanding of schooling and helps to develop an appreciation of the political, economic, and social forces that influence the decisions of educational leaders.

UNIQUE FEATURES OF THIS PROGRAM:

JAYHAWKVILLE - Jayhawkville is an interactive, virtual school district that allows students to apply theory into a practical setting. Designed from case studies, Jayhawkville consists of over 30 simulated school schools in suburban, urban, and rural communities. In addition, this experience includes scenarios including educators and students that represent diverse, real-world experiences. Other facets included in this school district consist of test scores, demographics, and socioeconomic data. Jayhawkville prepares the aspiring educational administrator with the unique challenges seen in the occupation and allows for the discovery of solutions.

INTERNSHIP GATEWAY - The Internship Gateway is the culminating experience of students at the University of Kansas. This provides on-site development of the skills necessary to effectively function as a school building leader. Activities are tailored to the needs of individual students in consultation with a university advisor and a field advisor.
